We need not feel ashamed of flirting with the zodiac. The zodiac is well worth flirting with.

Email Readings

I realise there may be some sense of continuity here, but there is no order to these chart readings. Use what best fits your need. When booking, you can include any background information you think is relevant. Transit readings need a relatively accurate birth time (within minutes) for the reading itself to be accurate. Finding the Light and Soul Keys can be used with a flat chart, but will be somewhat limited without knowing the angles of the chart or the degree of the Moon.

Transit Based

From the Crow’s Nest: The month ahead — An overview of the upcoming month. In this short report, I identify the strongest transits using the Sun, Mercury, and Mars and discuss where they are active in your natal chart and whether they impact any of your planets. Taking background noise from slower-moving planets into account, I offer suggestions on how to best use the transits. This report is not suitable if you don’t have a good basic grasp of astrological terminology or transits — it is not a cookbook interpretation, nor a step-by-step guide. It’s designed for those who are familiar with astrology but either don’t have the time to look, or those who would like an objective opinion. Approx 500 words.

Charting the Course — A reading for when you are feeling lost or need to change direction. I use your North Node (the soul growth to develop) and Midheaven (your standing in the world) to identify two potential destinations to anchor your focus. I analyse the natal aspects to both points to establish the tools you have at your disposal to navigate any challenges. Then, using current transits, I look at how the timing is likely to impact your efforts. Charting the Course is not a simple interpretation of the two points in your chart. This is an active reading to get you reconnected with a sense of purpose — it will include practical advice on what you can do to help yourself. Approx 1000 words.

Vibes & Undercurrents — This reading uses the transits of the slower-moving outer planets to assess what kind of work is taking place in the background, and whether you are likely to be aware of the effects. I look for any major aspects to your personal planets and the nodes, and also at where the outer planets are transiting. These transits are often felt as an undercurrent in the months leading up to a direct aspect, and having an idea of the energy involved means you can work with it, rather than be led blindly by unconscious impulses. If you are already aware of significant transits involving the outer planets and want me to focus on something specific, I am more than happy to do that. Approx 1000 words.

Natal Chart Insights

Finding the Light — If events have left you feeling defeated or deflated, you can use astrology to find ways of restoring your sense of possibility or hope so that you have the energy to deal with difficulty or change. Looking at your chart as a whole, I identify areas and avenues of ease so you can use them to create ways to feel less overwhelmed, stressed, or overburdened. I also look at the transits and what kind of help is available from the heavens. Sometimes, it may involve me looking backwards a little to see what transits have recently ended — it is not uncommon for people to ask for help at the tail end of a heavy transit. Because this is very much an active reading, it will include practical advice. Approx 1000 words.

Soul Keys — This reading is one for those of you who want to work more closely with your own inner guidance system. Using your natal chart, I look to see if you have any planets that are particularly complex in your chart and then look at the myths associated with them to find the dominant symbols. But it would be an exceptionally dull reading without hunting for the asteroids that sit closest to your planets and angles — using tight orbs, I narrow down the field to find the ones most likely to resonate. I then step back to see which patterns emerge: I look for the repetition of themes, symbols, plants and animals to find your personal keys. From there, you do what you like with the list, but the general idea would be to know when some part of yourself is trying to send another part of you a message. Knowing your keys can help to keep you on the right path, and maybe sometimes lead you somewhere unexpected but pleasantly surprising. Approx 1000 words.

One-to-one Consultation

Consultations take place either in person or over the phone. Astrology as a tool works best if you have somewhere to apply it directly. If you are actively working towards understanding yourself better, or you are trying to make changes, or discover new ways of looking at something, it can be a useful ally. I’m generally less concerned about what could happen externally in the form of an event, and instead prefer to use it as a lens for enriching the emotional life.

Main Techniques Used

A natal chart is a snapshot of the position of the planets at the moment of your birth — it provides the blueprint for any astrology consultation. Progressed charts are a semi-predictive method that can show how a person grows during their lifetime. It does not take priority over a natal chart and is said to show where internal changes are taking place. If I notice similarities in the transits hitting the natal and progressed chart, I often look at the solar return to see if the pattern is repeating there too. Charts can be drawn to look at the moment of return of any planet or the moon. While I do look at these for myself, it’s not usually something that is externally requested because transits tend to take up the bulk of any session. I have no issue with asteroids, but care needs to be taken when choosing how to work with them. It is often the case that someone will desperately want specific ones to be prominent in their natal chart, and they just aren’t. There is nothing I can do about this; I can’t physically launch myself into space and kick them back through time so they land somewhere else in your birth chart. So, I work with what is prominent and use them as additional objects — they can be used in conjunction with, but do not take the place of the main planets. What I’ve noticed is that when someone has a close conjunction of an asteroid to a personal planet, the theme will often be activated through synastry, especially if the asteroid is one half of a natural pair.

And finally, astrology can obviously be used to look at relationships — and this can be any relationship, including parental or friendship. Synastry is the method of comparing two individual natal charts to see where there is difficulty or ease between two people. Synastry is the primary method used for the analysis of relationships. The composite chart is a popular technique, and it shows the relationship as an identity separate from the individuals involved. A lesser-used but effective technique is known as the Davison chart. The calculation uses the midpoint in time and space between the two births. The Davison is said to show how the relationship plays out in real life, and often appears to respond significantly to transits.

If you have a good grounding in astrology, it is possible you know which techniques you want to use for the reading. But it is also perfectly fine to simply dive in with a question and see where we go.

from £25.00

There are two ways to work with me. The five email readings are built around different life stages: current transits for the month ahead, reorientation for when you’re lost or off-track, the outer planet background noise, using the chart to find relief, and finding your soul keys. If you’d rather talk it through, I offer one-to-one consultations either in person or over the phone. I use most of the usual techniques: natal, progressed, returns, transits, synastry, composite, and Davison — what gets used depends on your questions or need.

Astrology as a tool works best if you have somewhere to apply it directly. If you are actively working towards understanding yourself better, or you are trying to make changes, or discover new ways of looking at something, it can be a great help. The Astrology Blog

The blog is a random collection of articles I mostly wrote a few years ago, and I won’t have time to add anything new for the foreseeable.
